Almond Butter Chocolate Brownie Recipe

img_6626 My kids discovered Two Bite Brownies during a sleep over at Grandma’s this past weekend. They fell in love and the negotiations started for me to buy some as soon as they got home.  I decided we could come up with something just as tasty, but minus the refined sugar, flour and preservatives.  These came out amazing! I cut them up into small servings and froze half of them so we wouldn’t just gobble them all up! If you have little ones at home, try and get them involved in making the food if you can. :)

P.sS. Although they have whole food ingredients they are still a total treat!

2 cups almond butter (homemade if you can, it saves a lot of money!)

3/4 cups maple syrup

leaf45 dates (pitted)

2 eggs (farm fresh and local if you can, if not organic)

1/3 cup cacao powder

leaf41/2 tsp. sea salt (could use Himalayan pink salt if you have it)

1 tsp.  baking soda

leaf43/4 cup chocolate chips, plus another 1/4 cup for sprinkling on top

Preheat the oven to 325

In a large bowl, combine the dates and the maple syrup until evenly mixed. Use a mixer if you have one, if not it's a good work out :)

Add the almond butter and mix until nice and creamy

leaf4Add the eggs and mix

leaf4Add cacao, salt, baking soda and mix it up

leaf4Toss in 3/4 cup in chocolate chips and mix

leaf4Pour into a pan lined with parchment paper

leaf4Sprinkle 1/4 cup chocolate chips evenly across the top

leaf4Bake for 35 minutes

leaf4Cut into "Two Bite" portions

Enjoy this chocolatey goodness! Freeze half the batch if you like.
