4 Ingredient Chocolate Almond Fat Bombs

These 4 ingredient Chocolate Almond Fat Bombs are almost too good to be true. Loaded with healthy fats from coconut oil and almond butter, these little bite-sized snacks make the perfect low-sugar treat or afternoon pick me up.  These fudgy, chocolatey squares of joy will help to curb hunger, keep sugar cravings at bay and provide sustained energy without the crash.

The star ingredient here is coconut oil, which contains a type of saturated fat called Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs). These fats are quickly metabolized by the liver and converted to ketones for energy, rather than being stored as fat. Studies have shown that these MCTs actually increase metabolism and curb hunger.  Better yet, ketones provide an alternative to glucose as an ideal source of energy for the brain.

Chocolate Almond Fat Bombs

leaf41 cup of melted coconut oil

leaf41 cup of raw cacao powder

leaf41 cup of almond butter

leaf42 TBSP of maple syrup (you can leave this out for a totally sugar free option, but a touch of maple syrup does wonders to balance out the flavours while still keeping it low sugar)

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth
  2. Pour the mixture into a small parchment paper lined pan (a 6x6 inch container works too)
  3. Pop into the freezer for about 30 minutes until the mixture has hardened.
  4. Remove from container and cut into bite-sized squares

For almond butter, place 3 cups of raw or dry-roasted almonds into a food processor. You'll need to process for about 8 minutes total. The mixture will warm up as it blends, so its best to go for one or 2 minutes at a time, and then pause for a minute or two to let things cool before processing again. You'll know its done when it changes from dry and sticky, to smooth and runny.
