Meet Our Tribe - Paige Parakin - Lady Boss Edition
There are so many inspirational female entrepreneurs kicking-ass at life and business on Vancouver Island! We wanted to take an opportunity to highlight a few of these amazing women in our Lady Boss Edition of our Get to Know our Tribe.
We first met the talented designer/owner behind Azurea Customs when our stalls backed each other at a market. . . and we knew we had to collaborate immediately! Meeting someone like Paige, who is incredibly humble (and might not even realize just how talented she is!) is a gift. Her bohemian style Crystal jewelry is unique and gorgeous. We hope you enjoy meeting her as much we we did!
Where do you work? Position? How long have you worked there? What do you love about your company?
I started Azurea Customs in December of 2014 and have been slowly building the brand since. There are many things I love about my company, but I’d say first and foremost I love that it gives me a way to express myself and acts as my creative outlet.
2.) Who do you consider your tribe and what do you most appreciate about them?
I am an Island girl, born and raised, and I count myself lucky to live in such an amazing place. From the rugged beauty of the west coast beaches, to the kind and supportive members of the community, Vancouver Island has provided me with more than enough inspiration to create beautiful things.
3.) What are you about to eat?
Tonight for dinner I made a delicious Pomegranate Mint Quinoa salad, yum!
4.) What did you care most about when you were 10 years old?
Ever since I was a little girl I have always admired the beauty of the world; the way that everything is interconnected. I had, and continue to have, a passion for knowledge. I love to learn about anything I can get my hands on, from books to painting classes to music lessons. At the age of ten, I believe I cared most about school. I couldn’t wait to wake up in the morning and discover what else was out there in the big wide world.
5.) What’s your spirit animal?
I would say that my spirit animal is a wolf. I have a small group of people that I am close with and open myself up to; however, more often than not I prefer to be by myself and do my own thing.
6.) What was your first pet’s name? (Just in case we have to hack into your email account)
My first pet was a cute little fluffy thing named Benny.
7.) What is your favorite activity to get you sweat on?
I enjoy hot yoga, but I really love a good hike in the woods. Surrounding myself with nature really helps me keep my problems in perspective.
8.) What do you do to relax?
For me, there is not much better than curling up in front of the fire with a good book or having a hot bath with lavender Epsom salts.
9.) What is your favorite outdoor activity?
Snowboarding is one of my favorite ways to spend my time outside.
10.) Guilty pleasure indulgence? (not food)
My guilty pleasure is definitely sleeping in. I LOVE my sleep, and when my fiancé goes to work early in the morning and I know I should get up, I can’t help but lay my head back down for another twenty minutes.
11.) What’s your favorite GLJ juice?
My favorite GLJ is now Creamy Cashew; I’m a sucker for vanilla bean!
