7 Day Spring Juice Cleanse - Complete!
7 days of just Juice - that's the vitamins, nutrients and enzymes from almost 100lbs of fresh produce and nuts!!! It's no wonder my energy has skyrocketed and my skin is glowing. It was by far the easiest and most fun I have ever had on a Juice Cleanse, and thanks to pounding 7-8 juices per day, it was a total feast!
My dear friend Kate, who I have known since I was 7 came to stay with me for days 5, 6 and 7. She jumped on the juice train and we had a holistic weekend of love, laughter and nourishment. Cleansing with a buddy makes a WORLD of difference! We really got into the self care side of things. Kate joined me for a meditation workshop I led on Saturday, we dry brushed, tongue scraped, did facials, went for nature walks . . . and laughed harder than I have in as long as I can remember.
I always tell people that one of the #1 benefits of doing a juice cleanse is your shift in cravings. When I think about what I want to eat it is certainly fresh, beautiful, colorful and wholesome foods. I certainly eat clean on the regular, but I have not been craving good foods this deeply in a really long time. Interestingly, on the second half of my cleanse I had incredibly strong cravings for one thing in particular: FERMENTED FOODS! I literally cannot stop thinking about making a probiotic-enzyme salad for dinner tonight. My entire being is craving kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi . . . you name it. If it's fermented, I want it. NOW! I had been planting the subconscious seed for a while now - knowing I wasn't incorporating enough fermented foods into my daily regime. Sure enough, my body started sending me incredibly strong signals . . . cravings like you wouldn't believe . . . all in the name of fermentation.
Fermented foods and probiotics are the most important things to add in to your diet in order to have a healthy gut and reduce candida, or yeast overgrowth. Candida is a natural yeast that’s present in all of us. Many people, such as myself, have found that it is out of balance in their bodies causing symptoms such as bloating, indigestion, acid reflux, fatigue, lethargy, and more. Cutting out sugars and processed foods are incredibly important, but just as important is what you add back in. Fermented foods and probiotics are the ticket!
When you do a juice cleanse, and practice really listening to your body, it is amazing what it has to say. The more you can do to help hear those messages the better. Journaling, meditation, yoga & being in nature are all fantastics way to go inwards, tune in and be present. And who knows, you might just be like me, and your inner guide will be telling you to stop, drop and ferment!
The number one thing I did on this juice cleanse which was different than any other, and which I strongly believe was the biggest contributor to my success, is that I was gentle on my self. My only goal was to nourish my body, mind and soul. I made a commitment to myself before I started that no matter what came up, or how I felt, I would be gentle. Life, like a juice cleanse, is a journey. One that has ups and downs, surprising turns, and challenging hills: but it's all worth it. Believe in yourself and your body. I believe in you!
